The key figure in all our work is the human individual. In our philosophy, IT systems should be designed and realized in such a way that their users can relate to them as useful extensions of their own capabilities, rather than experiencing them as technical barriers.

The EML European Media Laboratory GmbH has a sister company, the not-for-profit HITS gGmbH (Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies). It devotes itself to basic-oriented research in data-driven science fields like bioinformatics and astrophysics.
